New Skin Treatment Trends for 2018

Skin care has exploded in the last few years, thanks to celebrity endorsements, beauty vloggers, and the never-ending reach of the World Wide Web. Like any other trend, beauty trends come and go each year, especially as consumer demand changes and science and technology advance. Everyone always wants the newest and greatest product, and companies consistently advertise their products as such.

With the New Year rolling in, we will see all of the new and improved skin care products and techniques plastering social media and filling store shelves.

But what are the new skin treatment trends for 2018?

Check out our list below of skin care trends to watch out for in the next year.

Probiotics

More and more brands are creating probiotic filled lotions, cleaners, masks, and more. While we know probiotics are good for keeping our insides running smoothly, it is definitely a recent addition to our skin care routines.

These probiotic products are said to reduce redness, and combat acne and eczema, buy promoting proper skin cell function and keeping the natural bacteria on your skin, known as the “microbiome” healthy.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid is naturally occurring, and is found in the connective, neural, and epithelial tissues throughout our bodies. With young and youthful skin being naturally high in HA, it is no surprise that adding it to our skin care regime has become so popular: the promise of return to radiant, youthful looking skin is enough to sell any product.

HA aids skin cells in holding moisture, which in turn helps keep the skins elasticity, and also works to protect the skin from harmful UVB rays.

HA is popular in the form of face creams and serums to boost the skins moisture, as well as being taken as an oral supplement to aid in the bodies formation of collagen.

Customizable Products

The creativity of individuals and companies, along with the ever-growing pool of technology available to us, has resulted in many forms of beauty products now being “customizable” to the consumer’s body. This has been seen in makeup, such as foundation shades, hair care products, and now skin treatments.

Personal serums and creams are the most popular type of customizable skin care products currently available, often allowing the consumer to choose ingredients and boosters based on their personal skin type and target results.

Face Brushing

Face brushing (not to be confused with microneedling which similarily minimizes wrinkles & tightens skin)  is a technique that has been popular for a few years now, but continues to become more popular as time goes on.

The idea is that “brushing” your face will clear out the layer of dead skin allowing the fresh, new skin to shine through; a process that, when naturally occurring, takes around a month. But why wait a month when you can have it tomorrow? At least that’s how society thinks nowadays.

Facial cleansing brushes come in all shapes, sizes, textures, and materials; meaning that you are sure to be able to find the perfect brush for your skin type.

All Aboard!

Now that you know what’s around the corner, in terms of skin care trends, it’s time to hop on the trend train and get ahead of the game with some of 2018 hottest products.
