Why Teenage Girls Still Love Britney Spears Despite Her Crazy Antics

Some people may be waiting for her to say “Oops, I did it again!” but teen girls are still looking up to fallen popstar Britney Spears as she makes her rounds of the airwaves. We’ve all been fascinated at first how Ms. Spears broke into the scene in the late 1990s as her infectious songs drove every other teenager to dance.

However, fame, the wrong advice and guidance, and wild impulses seem to have marred an otherwise stellar career in pop music.

People are still riveted to the gossip rags and to the TV to see what antics and shenanigans the former popstar has gotten herself into. Fast forward to the first decade of the new millennium. After two divorces, two babies, stints at rehab and psychiatric wards, Britney Spears is still living her life in the limelight, her fanbase still made up of young and impressionable girls who want to grow up to be just like her.

Unbecoming of a real teenage model

Even at the start of her career as a solo pop artist, Britney Spears has attracted a lot of criticism from people who were flustered at the adult sexuality a teenager like her radiated through her songs, dance moves, videos, and magazine spreads.

However, her musical prowess was undenied and she was a top-notch performer. While the way she danced, sang, and even the way she lived her personal life may not be what every puritanical family would want their young daughters to believe in, Britney Spears became a teenage model on what NOT to do if you don’t want your life messed up. Spears has undoubtedly bounced back from her erring ways and she’s slowly and painfully trying to turn her life around.

However, another lesson is learned here, and it’s not from a Britney who’s suddenly turned tail and reformed herself as a pious nun – the harder you fall, the harder it will be to get up if everybody just won’t let you.

How young girls identify with Britney Spears

Despite the horrors of parents and the former Britney fans who have moved on to college and the Pussycat Dolls, Britney Spears still captures the adulation of many teen girls worldwide. The tunes are catchy, the dance moves are still infectious (but lewd for people who can and will think so), and Britney Spears has a past that is not unknown to anyone else.

That troubled past has made her more human, more reachable, and more real than ever, as she seems to be on the track to rebuilding her life and career. Teen girls see in her a fallen heroine, who despite having her allowances witheld by her dad, is making it big and is famous.

Britney Spears doesn’t send out lewdness and sexuality to these teen girls, but instead sends them hope that they can be able to move on with their lives.
